Lalitha Mahal palace, Mysore, was built by Maharaja Krishnaraja Bahadur IV of Mysore to house his most esteemed guests. Surrounded by sprawling green lawns and gardens, the gleaming white palace, built to resemble a grand Italian palazzo, has played host to many distinguished dignitaries—the first, being the viceroy of British India, in 1931. Antique rosewood furniture, life sized portraits of royalty, marbled floors and carpeted staircases greet you to the hotel. Choose from princely high-ceilinged rooms and suites. The palace ballroom has been converted into a hotel and is situated on a ridge that opens up to a panoramic view of the valley at the foot of the Chamundi Hills.

All this is yours for: Rs 8000 onwards for a double room. Contact the hotel at 0821 2526100 or email: reservations@lalithamahalpalce.in
