All would have faced the horror of waking up with less than a half hour to shower, dress, primp and get to work, only to find that we have absolutely nothing to wear . Everything we put on looks atrocious, inappropriate, or just feels wrong. We end up either digging some old standby out of the laundry basket or wearing something that we hate because the clock's ticking and we are going to be late.

We can make the process of getting ready much faster and easier if we spend some quality time with our clothes before the moment we have to leave the house.

Know your goals

What are your occasions? Put together actual outfits – for work, for a night on the town, for going out with your family – right down to the accessories, shoes and bags that complement them, so you are not trying on everything at the last minute.

Practice shopping for outfits

Impulse shopping is the enemy of the organized wardrobe. When you buy that gold halter on a whim and don't think about what you have to wear it with, you are basically bringing home a hanger-warmer. It's a waste of money if you can't work it into your wardrobe.

Shop your closet

Many women don't know what the hell is hiding behind the winter coat or in the giant garbage bag of shoes. Go through your closet as if it were a store, trying on everything, modeling it in front of the mirror.

Know your minimum cosmetic requirements

All a woman needs to do is brush her hair, curl her eyelashes and smear on some lip gloss. What is the absolute minimum you need to do in oredr to look put-together? Just a little moisturizer? A few dabs of concealer? Some blush? When you oversleep or get asked out on a surprised date, you don't have time to put on your face or unpack the curling iron. Know how to put yourself together on the fly.
