A lady never assumes that anyone recognizes her voice on an answering machine.
She speaks clearly, identifies herself and leaves her phone number.
She leaves her message and then gets on with her life. If she needs to have a conversation, she can have one over dinner.
When a lad’s phone message is not returned in a timely fashion and a deadline is involved she calls back and if necessary leaves a second message.
