There seems to have been an influx of braids on the red carpet with A-listers choosing plaits to accessorize their hair. Adding texture and detail with braiding is totally on trend and easy to do – all you need is a little style know- how!

Step 1: Section

Braids at the front of your hair will give off a Grecian look that’s hot at the moment. Start by preparing damp hair to make it easier to manage and add hold. Create a slightly off-centre parting and divide the front of your hair into two or three sections, securing each out of the way with a clip.

Step 2: Plait

Take one section at a time, comb through to ensure the hair is free of knots, then divide it into three further sections. Start to braid, first by placing the left section over the middle, then the right over the middle and continue until the end. Secure with an elastic. Don’t worry if the braid looks a little untidy! Repeat for each of your front sections.

Step 3: Tease

The key to this style is to make the braids look on trend, with an irregular textured feel. To create this, you’ll need to tease the braid out with your fingers, keeping the main plait structure intact. Hold onto each side of the braid and pull the plait apart a little, starting at the bottom and working up to the root. This will widen and flatten the braid.

Step 4: Secure

By now you should have two or three complete braids. The next step is to secure your braids to the side of your head using a kirby grip. Then disguise the ends of the braids by tucking them underneath the rest of youe hair. Finish with a mist of hairspray to keep your look in place.

Pro Tip

The size of the braid and the amount of lines you create is entirely up to you. Obviously, the thicker your hair is, the thhicker your braids will be.

For Short Hair

If you’re got longer pieces at the front of your style, you can still create this look. If you haven’t, try cheating the lock with a braided headband.

MakeUp Note

Go for a fresh pop of pink color on your lips to contrast with your smouldering eyes.
