High Blood Pressure is often a silent usher of many serious diseases like coronary heart disease, heart attack, kidney disease and stroke. Though 120/80 mm of mercury is thought to be the ideal blood pressure, it varies to a great extent, depending on the age of the person and associated diseases such as diabetes or kidney disease.


1. Stop Smoking

Never restart it so that the nicotine in tobacco will not continue to harden arteries and raise blood pressure. Stop smoking because passive smoking will harm everybody.


2. Reduce the amount of salt intake

Since the sodium in salt increases blood pressure eat not more than 1 teaspoonful of salt that is mixed in different foods through the day.


3. Reduce the amount of junk food

Avoid eating fast food, processed food rich in saturated fat and cholesterol because it leads to deposition of fat in the arteries, making them narrow and increases blood pressure. Instead of these food items it is best to take at least two servings of vegetables, salad and fresh fruits every day.


4. Exercise Every Day

Find time and at least do 30 minutes every day like jogging, brisk walking, workouts, gardening, mowing or house cleaning. This helps lot to reduce the overweight.


5. Drink in Moderation

Drink moderately so that it will help to avoid completely right.


6. Find Time to relax

In this busy schedule like office work and home work on the regular basis spend time with family and friends. Enjoy with them by going vacations like picnic and tours.


7. Check Family’s Medical Records

Since it spreads from the family history check whether any member in the family has got diseases like high Blood Pressure, heart Diseases, kidney diseases and stroke and take precautions how to avoid these diseases.


8. Go for a through Health Check Up

At least once in a year go for a normal check up with the family doctor.


9. Report to the Doctor

If any symptoms like persistent headache, vertigo and unexplained irritation blood pressure should be checked compulsory and take medicine regularly without fail.


10. Spread awareness about prevention

You can simply explain and motivate others about blood pressure so that they can get precaution about these diseases.
